Every Monday me and my friends meet up at the local tavern down the street from my place to play a couple games of volleyball. Ran or shine, we are playing. Thankfully, we have been fortunate enough to have had dry weather for all of our games, till tonight.
Usually when it starts to rain everyone runs for cover as if they were going to melt like the Wicked Witch of the West. But, if you were to find out that your days were numbered would you still run for cover or would you stop, take a deep breath, and just let yourself feel the rain on your skin for that one last time?!?!
The funny thing is… all of our days are numbered! We all know we are going to die, we just don’t know when that is going to be.
So tonight at volleyball, we didn’t really have the choice to run for cover because we were in the middle of a game. However, this is what I was thinking about as the soft tiny rain drop started to fall heavier and heavier down on us. I felt the rain soak my hair, then turn into big drops that started to drip down my face and into my eyes. My shirt started to become heavy for it was drenched with water and the sand started to stick to my skin even more.
The best part was that I loved every second of it! I banked that moment into my memory bank and was fully present; being completely humble and grateful to have the chance to just soak it all in and feel the rain on my skin while playing a game of volleyball with some pretty great people.
